Stock
Availability
Many styles of Panama hats are available from stock throughout
the year. Some styles however are only available on advanced order.
High levels of demand combined with the slow weaving process for
the finer grade hats, can occasionally lead to shortages on certain
styles, grades or sizes. Although we can often fulfill orders from
our current stock levels, it is advisable to allow 90 days between
placing your order and the required delivery date. If you contact
us by telephone (01335 345 851) or e-mail, we will be happy to advise
you of an estimated delivery time based upon our current stocks.
We
can also supply finer grades, different styles, colours or llano
weave to order (subject to minimum order). Please call to discuss
your requirements.
For
those items not available from stock, or for large orders
it is advisable to allow 90 days lead time. Production is
dependent upon the grade and weave of the hat but also upon whether
the women are working in the fields (September to March) when capacity
is reduced.
At maximum capacity we can produce:
Grade 2 - 800+ per month.
Grade 4 - 400 er month.
Grade 8 - 300 per month.
Grade 10 - 50 per month.
Grade 12 to 14 - 30 per month.
For
larger quantities, we do have other weavers/finishers who we can
call upon if necessary.

Hat
Sizing and Grades
Panama,
Felt and Leather Hat Sizes
Our hats are available from stock in a number of different sizes.
Hat sizes are given in metric measurements where the size equates
to the circumference of the head in centimeters. If you need help
in converting from imperial or calculating your correct hat size
visit our Hat sizing page.
Panama
Hat Grades
Panama hats come in many different grades usually measured by a
number or name. The lower the number the coarser the weave of the
hat. Hats with a finer weave are more flexible, roll easily and
are less prone to damage.
However hats with a finer weave take much longer to produce and
prices reflect this.
For
more information on Panama Hat grades visit our
Hat Grades and Weaves page.
Pachacuti
imports hats in four grades Standard (Grade 2/3), Superior
(Grade 4), Fine (Grade 8) and Extra Fine (Grade 10-12)
although not all hats are available in all grades from stock (for
availability please see above).
Panama
Hat Weaves
Our Panama Hats are available in two weaves; Brisa characterised
by a regular diamond pattern, and
Llano with a herringbone
weave. The Llano weave produces a finer result but takes longer
to produce and thus results in more a expensive hat. For more information
on Panama Hat weaves visit our Hat Grades
and Weaves page.
Panama
Hat Boxes
Panama hats can be rolled for travel and we
supply hand made, lightweight balsa boxes for this purpose. Care
should be taken when rolling Panama hats, especially with the Fedora
due to its 'pinched' crown. Fine
Panamas may be rolled as can twisted weave and crochet panamas. It is not recommended to keep Panama
hats rolled up for extended periods of time as they may be reluctant
to regain their original shape.
Panama
Hat Bands
Hat bands for Fedora, Borsalino and Colonial Panamas are available
in the following colours;
Black - Brown - Beige - Bottle Green
Availability of different colours cannot always be guaranteed. When
ordering please state both first and second choice for hat band
colour or contact us to check availability.
