Finding Your Perfect Hat Size

Welcome to the Pachacuti hat guide for selecting your hat size.

We want to ensure that your Pachacuti hat fits perfectly, as though it was bespoke made just for you—a hat that neither perches too high nor slips too low, one that enhances your silhouette and provides a seamless blend of comfort and elegance.

Every individual’s head is distinct, rendering the notion of an ‘average’ hat size less accurate. We pride ourselves on catering to a wide range of sizes across our collection, with additional sizes available through special order to accommodate everyone’s unique needs. If you can’t find your size listed, don’t hesitate to reach out to us for personalized assistance.

Moreover, we understand that achieving the perfect fit might not always happen on the first attempt. To address this, we offer a free return and exchange policy to our UK customers, ensuring you can find a hat that fits your head perfectly, without compromise.

Hat Sizing Scales

Hat sizes are typically measured in one of three different sizing scales:

At Pachacuti, our hats are sized according to the European/metric standard using centimetres circumference.

Thus, when ordering,, it’s best to provide your hat size in centimetres. For those used to British or North American sizes, please refer to our conversion chart to easily switch to metric measurements or get in touch if you and we will ensure you get that perfect fit

Finding Your Hat Size Easily

To find your hat size in the European/metric system, you’ll need to measure your head’s circumference in centimetres. Here’s a simple way to do it:

What’s Needed:
  • Use a Metric Tape Measure: Wrap a tailor’s tape measure around your head where you would like your hat to sit. Ensure it encircles your head evenly, maintaining the desired position for accurate measurement.
  • Or Use a String: If you don’t have a tape measure at hand, wrap a piece of string around your head, then measure the length of the string with a ruler. Mark the point where the string meets, then lay it flat to measure.
  • Ask for Help: If you can ask someone for assistance, please do, as it will make the job much easier. Having another person take the measurement can help achieve a more accurate reading.

Where to Measure:
  • Positioning: Place the tape or string just above your eyebrows and about 1 cm above your ears. This ensures the measurement reflects where the hat will naturally sit.
  • Tightness: Pull the measure tight enough to stay in place but not so tight it compresses your skin. A balance between snug and loose is key for an accurate measurement.
  • Alignment: Make sure the tape measure is not drooping low or running high. Keeping the tape level and straight around the head is crucial for a true measurement.

Reading Your Measurement:
  • Rounding Off: Hat sizes are rounded to the nearest whole centimetre. This standardisation simplifies finding the right hat size.
  • Choosing Size: If your measurement falls between two sizes, round up to the larger size for the best fit. Opting for a slightly larger size can offer more comfort and adjustability.

These instructions are a guide to help you find a hat that will fit well, but how you like to wear your hat is up to you.  For those who already own a Panama hat, you can try measuring the inside circumference where the crown meets the brim for an additional reference.
